ACJC has 3 runners on Friday and Saturday all in Stakes races
Report from John Blight on our runners this weekend starting tomorrow:
“ACJC has 3 runners on Friday and Saturday all in Stakes races.
On Friday Bear on the Loose contests the Listed Albury Cup (Race 7 No 5). He’s been knocking on the door of a win this campaign and this race is no more difficult than what he’s been contesting. He’s definitely in career best form and he should be able to lead and dictate and be hard to run down. Hardest to beat are Plymouth, Nellie Leylax, Touristic and Casino Seventeen.
On Saturday at Rosehill ACJC are represented in 2 Group 1 races although both horses will both go around at about $81 so are real outsiders.
Shiki contests the time honoured $5 Million Group 1 Golden Slipper (Race 8 No 15). She has earned her spot in this prestigious race by winning the Gimcrack Stakes and Aquis Gold Pearl this season. As such she’s one of only a handful of runners in the race to have won more than once. Forget her last 2 starts when poorly ridden both times. She has a jockey change and has drawn really well and should get a great run. At her very best she’s an each way chance in what is probably the most open Golden Slipper ever. Hardest to beat are Streisand, Chayan and Paradoxium. It’s one of those years however when any horse in the race could win. Cheer loudly for Shiki !!
Alalcance contests the $1 Million Group 1 Ranvet (Race 5 No 6). It’s a small field but has 2 of the best middle distance horses in Australia contesting this race in Aeliana and Sir Delius. Alalcance will lead and run them along but she is very one paced. She would need to make this race a very strong staying test to have any chance at running a place. I’ll be happy if she runs top 5 in this race and it should set her up nicely for the Tancred Stakes next week. Sir Delius and Aeliana should quinella this race and any one of the other four horses could run third.
Best chance over the weekend is Bear on the Loose on Friday. Good luck to all ACJC members in the ownership of these horses.”
