2026 Melbourne Cup Day
What a fantastic day at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne! Members and friends of the Australian Chinese Jockey Club (ACJC) travelled to Melbourne to attend the iconic Melbourne Cup, Australia’s most famous horse racing event, famously known as “the race that stops a nation”.
This year, we were especially excited to cheer on our very own horse, Vauban, as he contested this prestigious Group 1 race, with a prize pool of AUD $10 million. Over the past six years, ACJC has had horses qualify to compete in this world-renowned race, making each Melbourne Cup an exciting and memorable occasion for our members.
Vauban put up a spirited performance, holding a position among the top three for approximately the first two-thirds of the race. Unfortunately, he was unable to maintain his position towards the finish and did not manage to surpass last year’s sixth-place result. Although victory was not on our side this time, we remain incredibly proud to have our horse competing on such a prestigious stage.
Despite not taking home the Cup, the day was filled with excitement, joy and unforgettable experiences. From the spectacular racecourse atmosphere and beautiful floral displays to the elegant fashions, delicious food and drinks, there was so much to enjoy.
One of the special highlights was sharing in the excitement and joy of celebrating the Melbourne Cup winner, Point of Law, and experiencing the unforgettable moments that make this great racing tradition so special.
It was truly a wonderful day of friendship, passion for horse racing and shared memories among ACJC members and friends.
We hope to return to Flemington next year, with even greater excitement and, hopefully, an even stronger performance from our horse!
